Schnapps

Pronunciation: [SHNAHPS; SHNAPS]

Any of several strong, colorless alcoholic beverages made from grains or potatoes. The word comes from the German Schnaps, meaning "mouthful." Although sweet peppermint Schnapps is undoubtedly the most widely known version, this potable may be flavored variously with herbs and seeds (including aniseed, caraway seed, dill and fennel) and can range from sweet to dry.
