pumpernickel

Pronunciation: [PUHM-puhr-nihk-uhl]

A coarse dark bread with a slightly sour taste. Pumpernickel is usually made of a high proportion of rye flour and a small amount of wheat flour. Molasses is often used to add both color and flavor.
