Pronunciation: [oh deuh VEE]
French for "water of life," describing any colorless, potent brandy or other spirit distilled from fermented fruit juice. Kirsch (made from cherries) and framboise (raspberries) are two popular eaux de vie. See also aqua vitae; liqueur.
